Barbara Stripling will present the keynote address at this August's conference. Stripling is Assistant Professor of Practice in the School
of Information Studies at Syracuse University. She was elected President of the
American Library Association for the 2013-14 term, with the goal to lead ALA to
build on and continue its support for transforming libraries with a special
emphasis on literacy, community engagement, and innovation practices that enable
all librarians to empower the voices of their community. She was previously president of the American Association of School Librarians.
She has served as Director of Instructional Services for the
Fayetteville, Arkansas Public Schools and Director of Library Services for the
New York City Department of Education.
Stripling is an advocate for collaboration between teachers and librarians and for the value of inquiry in student learning. We are delighted that she will join us in August.
